THE MOVEMENT ECOLOGY LAB

Supervised by Professor Ran Nathan

The Movement Ecology Lab, led by Prof. Ran Nathan at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, focuses on understanding the causes, mechanisms, patterns, and consequences of organismal movement. Using advanced tracking technologies, data analysis, and modeling, the lab studies movement across a wide range of species—from seeds to birds. Its research contributes to ecology, conservation, and global change biology.

AGMON HULA WILDLIFE ACCLIMATIZATION CENTER - KKL

The Acclimatization Center (AWRC) was established in December 2019 in collaboration with KKL-JNF and Tel Hai College, and led by Yaron Charka – KKL-JNF Chief Ornithologist, and Dr. Rona Nadler-Valenci – veterinarian and director of the Acclimatization Center. The center is located in Agmon Hula and includes a front-line clinic, a hatchery, and advanced acclimatization cages. The main goal of the Acclimatization Center is to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wild animals, and provide them with the best environment for a successful release into the wild. The center accepts only protected Israeli wild animals from the Finger of Galilee, the Golan Heights, and the Kinneret area for treatment.

THE ANIMAL FLIGHT GROUP

Supervised By Professor Nir Sapir

The flight group studies biomechanical, behavioral, physiological, evolutionary and ecological aspects of flight in birds, bats and insects. Their projects include the study of wild animals in the field and in the lab using a diversity of research approaches.

SHAMIR RESEARCH CENTER

For more than three decades the Shamir Institutes has been operating from the capital city of the Golan Heights, Katzrin, to advance the practical, applicable and Academic Research across the Golan and beyond. The institute is home for scientists who live in the Golan, where they do the research and where they find practical solutions in a varied gamut of subjects.
